Privacy Policy

Effective May 27, 2026

SoberLife is built by people in recovery, for people in recovery. Anonymity and trust are the spiritual foundation of every fellowship we serve. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do with it.

This policy applies to the SoberLife website at soberlife.club and to the SoberLife mobile app (iOS and Android, bundle identifier club.soberlife.app). Both are operated by Jurney LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“SoberLife,” “we,” “us”).

1. Our anonymity promise

SoberLife is designed around the Twelfth Tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous and the equivalent anonymity principles of NA, SMART Recovery, and Refuge Recovery. We never require your legal name. We never publish or share who you are, which meetings you attend, or your sobriety date. We default to pseudonymous usernames and synthetic internal email addresses so your account cannot be traced back to your real identity through us.

2. Information we collect

Account information

  • A username you choose (does not need to be your real name)
  • A password (stored only as a one-way hash)
  • Your sobriety start date, if you choose to enter one
  • Optional recovery email or phone number, only if you choose to add one for account recovery

App usage

  • Fellowships and meeting types you select
  • Filters and preferences you set
  • Meetings you favorite or mark as regulars
  • Implicit attendance records: when you tap “Open in Zoom” or “Get Directions,” we record that interaction so the app can personalize your feed

Location

Location is only requested when you actively use an in-person meeting search. We use it once, to find meetings near you, and we do not store your location on our servers.

Device and diagnostic data

  • Device model, operating system version, app version
  • Sanitized crash reports via Sentry (no usernames, no sobriety dates, no attendance data)
  • Aggregate, event-based analytics via PostHog using a strict event allowlist (taps, screen views, errors) — never your username, sobriety date, attendance history, or location

What we do not collect

  • Legal name, mailing address, or government identification
  • Medical records, treatment history, or clinical diagnoses
  • Contacts, photo library, microphone, or biometrics
  • Browsing history outside our website or app
  • Personally identifying information that you have not voluntarily provided

3. How we use your information

  • To personalize your meeting feed (regulars, favorites, recommendations)
  • To display your sobriety counter and milestone view
  • To diagnose crashes and improve reliability
  • To understand, in aggregate, which features people use so we can make the app better
  • To send you transactional messages you have asked for (account recovery)

4. Advertising

The current version of SoberLife is free and ad-free. A future version may show non-personalized advertising via Google AdMob. If and when that happens, no sensitive information — sobriety date, attendance, meeting selections, or username — will be passed to any ad network. You will be notified before any change, and an ad-free option will be available.

5. Subprocessors we use

We use a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to run the service. Each is bound by contract to protect your data:

  • Supabase— database, authentication, and file storage (United States region)
  • Vercel— website hosting
  • Sentry— sanitized crash reporting
  • PostHog— aggregate product analytics (event allowlist only)

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with data brokers, marketers, or treatment-center referral networks.

6. Your rights and controls

No matter where you live, you have the following rights:

  • Access and export— request a copy of your data from Profile > Privacy or by emailing us
  • Correct— update your sobriety date, username, or preferences anytime in the app
  • Delete— permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile > Delete Account, or by emailing support@soberlife.club. Deletion completes within 30 days.
  • Withdraw analytics consent — disable analytics in Profile > Privacy at any time

Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom (UK GDPR), and other jurisdictions with similar laws have additional rights to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority and to object to certain processing. To exercise any right, email support@soberlife.club.

7. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain limited records (for example, financial records for tax purposes — though no payment information is collected from free users).

8. Security

All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher). Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Database access is protected by row-level security so a user can only ever read their own personal data. We use Expo SecureStore (iOS Keychain and Android EncryptedSharedPreferences) to keep your session token on-device. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, email us immediately.

9. Children

SoberLife is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are 13 to 17, please use SoberLife only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.

10. International users

Our servers are located in the United States. If you use SoberLife from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the service you consent to that transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make a material change — for example, adding a new subprocessor or beginning to show advertising — we will post the change here with a new effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
